NOMINEE: Allan Altera
NOMINATED BY: Kim Catapang
I started doing “gigs” for Boss Allan in 2012, I was still in college after giving birth, and he was in the same PR class for his masters. We became groupmates for an activity, and shortly after that he got me as a production staff for one of his events. One project led to another, and soon I became his go-to events assistant.
Because of the work experience that I got from him, I was able to land a regular job as an Account Manager in an ad agency during my last semester of college. I was able to earn to provide for my baby, and I honed my skills as an events professional. He consistently gave me jobs on the side, and he trained me and gave me insights about life. He also taught me a lot about life, professionalism and how to treat colleagues.
To this day, now that I handle my own clients, I still carry his teachings. I was so inspired by his life story, as some of you may have encountered on Facebook. He’s the Kuya that everyone talked about, the one who worked to provide for his entire family, sent his siblings to school, struggled throughout college and is now a successful businessman. His story inspires me to be the best version of myself everyday.
