Father of 9 + 2: For Augie Soliman

My Dad, Daddy Augie or Kuya Augie as most of his siblings call him, is a ‘Hero’ in every aspect. For one, when our grandfather died, he single-handledly raised his 9 siblings while building his own family. He instantly became a father of 11 (9 siblings + 2 child) which was no easy task. He took the challenge selflessly. He treated our dreams and aspirations as his own and have guided us every way he can for us to achieve our own personal goals. One of his greatest accomplishments was sending all of his siblings to college and have them graduate with a bachelors degree. All of them had their own successes in their respective fields and have credited my Dad for the guidance and support. He is a living testament of the statement ‘Service above Self’.

Being a dad is no easy task and he was able to fulfill his ordinary role extraordinarily well. I always look up to him. Having been blessed with his own image and likeness, I will never think twice to be like my Dad. I just want to make a toast to my Dad, who will always be my ‘idol’ and inspiration.

I agree…our father passed away when I was only 7 and our brother Augie helped our mom to raise all of us. He even postponed his own wedding so that he can get some of my siblings finish college. He is not only like a second father to me but my hero!!!!

Kuya Augie is our eldest in the family of 10 siblings and became our Dad when our father died 1979. I was 18 then. He was always on our side, when we are in need, helping our Mom together with other elder brother & sisters. Lumaki kami na nagtutulungan sa isat-isa at natututong maghanap buhay para sa pamilya. Because of our parents, Kuyas and Ates who are so generous to us, we became so close despite of our struggle in life. Thanks to our almighty for the many blessings we had and until now. We pray for all of us to keep our faith in God and be strong. God Loves us all. Thank you Kuya.

Yes, Kuya Augie is our hero. At young age, we lost our Dad and since then Kuya Augie step up and made sure that we are all taken care of especially with our studies. He made sure that we finish college to give us a bright future. He always put others first before himself. He’s the most generous and unselfish person I know. Without him, we won’t be where we at right now. The Love and care that he gave to the whole family is unconditional and we are forever be grateful. May God bless him more, protect him and give him good health for him to continue helping others.
