Are You Moving Forward?

At some point in our lives, we’ve all consciously or unconsciously found ourselves rethinking negative experiences in the past as if they were movie scenes that we can change or rewind whenever we want to. Unfortunately, life is not a film– and there is really nothing we can do to change the past. I know that it will never be easy but, what I know we can do is to just keep moving forward and learn in the process.

Here are three steps to help you move forward:

  • Think more positively and speak words of affirmation.

Speak words of affirmation and encouragement to yourself. Instead of thinking about the “what-ifs”, focus on finding the positive in every situation you are in. If you can change how you speak, then you can change how you think. And if you can change how you think, then you can change how you live.

  • Seek God for wisdom, knowledge, and strength to handle and change what you can, and cannot

Oftentimes, we forget that God is with us in all that we experience. Not only do we sometimes forget that God is with us, but also forget that He provided the Holy Spirit to be our help. Seek God and His word for wisdom on how you should handle life situations, and trust the Holy Spirit to guide you along the way.

  • Forgive.

This is not only about forgiving someone else but most importantly, about forgiving yourself. Forgiveness can hinder us from overcoming a particular situation, especially if there are personal struggles that we can’t seem to move forward from. There may be times when things seem to be out of control, but try not to be too hard on yourself and learn how to let go. I believe that true forgiveness can bring healing and enlightenment. Forgive so that you can walk in grace and in favor, receive blessings, and achieve the desires of your heart.

Never allow yourself to be distracted by the negative experiences you’ve encountered. Instead, let the past be just what it is- a thing of the past. If you stay motivated and become more focused on the plan that lies ahead of you, then you can walk in faith and live a more peaceful life. Don’t ever give up on yourself and keep moving forward!
