Discovery / Mind

I Waited

I waited.

Then I doubted.

It’s so hard to wake up wondering if this is the day, the day when you finally get the answer.

What if. What if I fail? What if I am rejected? What if all the effort I put into something isn’t enough to make me achieve what I want?

What will you choose- for the situation to speak to you, or for you speak to your situation?

I recently found myself in a situation in which my trust in God had to step in. That experience made me realize that I should stop focusing on other people’s blessings and stop comparing myself to them because that will just lead to insecurity.

I reminded myself that I must choose to set my mind believing that He has a greater plan. I should not waver, but instead trust His word and know that He’ll come through.

And so I trusted in the truth of Isaiah 58:11: “The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail”. (NIV) He will guide you always. Know that God is ordering your steps. If you don’t like where you are, don’t worry, it’s just a step– a step for you to check your heart, your goals, and your motives.

God is not going to bless a goal motivated by greed, envy, fear or pride. But He does honor goals that is motivated by a desire to demonstrate love to Him and to others, because life is all about relationships and not accomplishments.

God will satisfy your needs and strengthen you. He has a reason, even for putting you in tough situations. The thing is, you don’t need to negotiate with God for Him to satisfy your needs; you simply need to trust that He will. Sometimes, time may seem to move slow in your eyes. But understand that He’s preparing you, equipping, molding and shaping you.

Why? What is His reason?

You will be like a spring whose waters never fail.

A spring bringing life and joy to others. A spring overflowing with love and selfless service – to your family, neighbors and to those who are hard to love.

Rest in the assurance that if something is meant to be, it isn’t up to you, it’s up to God. You don’t need to twist God’s arm for Him to answer your desires. He knows what is best for you.

If He makes it happen without all your chaotic self-effort, then you’ll know it is His best.

And if doesn’t happen, thank Him for saving you. He is doing something important in your life, something beyond what you expected.
