“My journey with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® started when my photo got featured in their 2012 Giving Journal. That was when I was doing volunteer work at Tahan-tahanan, a haven for cancer-stricken children. When I claimed my copy of the Giving Journal, I was delighted with joy! From then on, I became a loyal supporter of the brand.
Joining The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®’s Brew Your Best Year events, I felt that I belonged to a community of like-minded people who have something to contribute for the betterment of our fellow Filipinos. I learned that it is not just always about ourselves but “going beyond ourselves” and that there comes a moment when we need to shift our inner fire to help others so that our lives can become more meaningful. By extending our hands to those who are in need and by opening our hearts to others, we are also welcoming the blessings of God. Like The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®’s tagline “Taste matters”, so does everyone. Everyone matters.” – Mars Mercado

Tell us about your story as a Community Member of Brew Your Best Year. How did your journey start?
My journey with the BYBY Community started when I got featured in the 2012 CBTL Journal. I was doing a volunteer work then at Tahan-tahanan, a haven for cancer-stricken children, and my photo was taken. When I claimed my copy of the Giving Journal at the BGC branch, I was delighted with joy! From then on, I became a loyal supporter of the brand.
What are your most memorable experiences being a part of our community so far? Tell us about them and why they are defining highlights for you.
When my articles got posted in brewyourbestyear.com, I felt happy because I was given the opportunity to inspire others. H. Jackson Brown Jr. once said, “Don’t forget, a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.” Joining The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s events, I felt that I belonged to a community of like-minded people who have something to contribute for the betterment of fellow human beings.
Favorite pieces created during our various events or as a result of inspiration gained from being a part of the community. (If you were a part of any of our workshops)
*Creativity, Bravery, Thoughtfulness Land –this is how I would like to describe CBTL. I am thankful to all the people I’ve met through the different workshops. People who later on became my FB friends and eventually became my true-to-life friends (special mention to Beyn Malate, Darwin Cayetano, Eboy Donato, Mark Anthony Cabrera, Mark Joseph Arisgado, and Zsazshing. Even if there’s no event, we spend time with each other & bond from time to time.)
Where do you get inspiration?
My parents will always and forever be my source of inspiration. I know in my heart that they will always be my number 1 fan(s). They are both drinking coffee in heaven now.
