Someone from our Life Party (an event that we do for the students in our Church) shared with us her thoughts about dreams and raised a question. She asked: “What is your greatest dream? Do you believe that it can happen?”
I’m pretty sure everyone has different answers on this one- to be a teacher, a doctor, a musician, the list goes on. But have you ever wondered why you even have such a dream to begin with or why is it that you are really passionate about something?
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”- Jeremiah 29:11
Following this passage, God is the One who put the desires of your heart, your dreams and passions. And He did that on purpose because He wants you to pursue your dreams. He desires for us to be happy, to enjoy His creations and for us to achieve our dreams and goals. If you dream to be an architect, know that God is dreaming with you. If you want to be an artist or a photographer, continue to pursue your passion– no one will stop you. But it doesn’t end there. In fact, Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” He placed those dreams, desires, goals and passions in our hearts because it is what He wants for us. He’ll be the one to help you reach it, to become what you dream to be.
John Maxwell said in his book “Put Your Dream to the Test.” God wants us to dream and to dream big because He is a big God who wants to do big things and He wants to do them through us. He gave us those dreams, desires and passions so that we can do big things to fulfill our purpose, our mission so that we can glorify Him. Keep on dreaming BIG, and let Him guide you in every step of the way!
