Rejections – they are not there to stop you but to gauge how much you really want something.
Me? I’ve had my fair share of rejections, too. Before I became the youngest supervisor in the company I work for at the age of 24, I went through criticisms and discouragement.
My first application for the position was declined because the manager thought I wasn’t ready for the job even if I think I was. I was ridiculed by co-workers because of my tenure in the company and my age.
But, that didn’t stop me from chasing the dream. I came up with a game plan – be relevant. I started working on high-impact process improvement projects on my free time and created business cases. I helped the company become efficient while spending less on costs. On my second application for the position, I was the number 1 choice.
What I’m saying is, it’s a cut-throat world out there. Believe in yourself and do not let anyone tell you what you’re only capable of. Work. Work until your heroes become your rivals.
