“We make ourselves.
That’s what I realized when I saw how I can be assertive sometimes, and a let-it-be type of person at other times. As Malcolm Gladwell explained his book, Blink, one’s character is just a construct in order to describe a person. But a person described to be generous may not be one at certain circumstances.
When we feel lost, we should not find ourselves. We don’t look for ourselves. Where do we even find ourselves? In our parents? Friends? Lover? No, we can’t search for who we are in someone else’s being.
Instead, we make ourselves. We choose ourselves. Who we are is something we choose every single time.”
