Your Drive is a Gift. Protect It.

As a kid, I have always dreamed of becoming a doctor. I love the idea of being able to help and cure people. Coming from a family who’s financially struggling, this seemed to be a far-fetched dream. Knowing this, I studied really hard, making sure that I’ll land a scholarship in a prestigious medical school and together with that, got myself a part-time job. And now here I am! I just got through my first semester as a Doctor of Medicine student! The road towards my goal won’t be easy. Money might always be one of my biggest problems. But I don’t mind how long it will take me before I get that M.D. title because what matters is that in time, I’ll get there. As Lailah Gifty Akita puts it, “I am committed to my dreams. It does not matter how slow, I am moving towards my dreams, I will get to the finish line.”
