This week brought me so much mixed emotions- excitement, loneliness, happiness and sadness. Being a college student especially when final examinations are approaching, we become bombarded with different responsibilities. And that is why I thank the Lord for a week full of realizations. Just as Socrates once said “Know Thyself”, I have learned so many things about life over the past week.
Allow me to summarize these into five realizations:
- Stay focused
Whether you are having a rough day or just loaded with things you need to do, stay focused. Complaining and being anxious won’t do nothing but make us feel tense and uneasy. Just stay calm and work on track. It’s helpful to make a to-do-list or try investing on a good planner. This will be your armor in every wave of life.
- Know your priorities
It doesn’t matter if it’s a small or big thing, what’s important is your commitment to it. Whether it’s building relationships, studying hard to maintain good grades or doing the things that make us happy or things we are passionate about, all it requires is our handwork and dedication. That’s why self-assessment is essential here. Are you doing this kasi nagmamahal ka? (Are you doing this because you love?) Knowing the state of our hearts is necessary because it is in our hearts that we build our desire that will bring us to our true purpose.
- Don’t be afraid to take a risk
Oftentimes, people are afraid to take a leap of faith and invest in something without any assurance. Too many lose the opportunity because they are questioning their ability to do things. You may have fallen so many times but what’s important is how you pick yourself up. At the end of the day, you can’t get something if you don’t try.
- You can have more, you can brew more
My professor in Economics invited me, together with two of my friends, to join a Quiz Bee. I was hesitant at first because I had lots of things to do but I gave it a shot and tried. There is no harm in trying anyways. I reviewed the whole night, listening to different video tutorials and read some books and notes. I know I had done my best and I fully believed that we could do it. And at the end of the Quiz Bee, we were awarded with the first place. You see, all wonders in life start when you believe in yourself.
- You are not alone
In the darkest moments of your life, in the midst of all the struggles you are experiencing right now… always remember that you are not alone. Lahat ng tao naghahanap ng katuwang sa buhay but you can always lean on your family and friends that can support you with whatever you are doing right now. They are the best life supports you can ever have.
Life is like a close-open hand trick. Many people are too busy holding on to the extra baggages in their lives that are holding them down, and only when they realize that it’s when you empty yourself that the Lord can intervene do they become blessed with a better life, a better future, a better version of themselves. Nothing is permanent, only God is. Whatever you are going through is just temporary. You just need to have faith, put your trust in Him, and be confident that He has a plan for you. Everything is just part of a grand scheme.
