Social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are easily accessible by anyone who has an internet connections.
Social media has been a great outlet where people can share their thoughts, ideas, and wisdom with others. As I scroll down my Facebook newsfeed and see statuses of my friends and the comments of people on the posts of pages I’m following, I see the different kinds of people in social media There are many who express hatred and negativity, making comments as if they weren’t really thinking about what the possible other readers might feel or the outcome their comments could bring.
Most of the time, when I’m reading these posts with one-sided thoughts or the news, I feel the need to join in on the conversation and make a comment on that post, but I always thinking twice if that is the right thing to do. I might express my ideas and feelings, yes… but, it could start a debate that could lead to anger (on both sides) and make the issue/s at hand even bigger. Instead of butting in, I always just think about what I could do to make this country, or this world, even more peaceful and united, despite all our differences. At the end of the day, I choose to choose my words and when and where to say them.
It’s not bad to share your thoughts—we are all entitled to this. Just make sure that you’re telling it in a righteous way and make sure that you are not being offensive. Always remember too that you don’t have to be one with what is “IN” today (being a keyboard warrior), you don’t have to follow the majority opinion. When you do or say something, make sure you align it with your values and you respect what others’ value just the same.
