My mom is my ultimate hero in more ways than one. The roles of both mother and father were passed onto her slender shoulders during my younger years when my dad passed away. But she bravely carried on that extra burden with courage and wisdom. Many nights, I remember hearing her crying and weeping alone in their bedroom, but during the daytime she would not show us any of her sadness, knowing that we were also mourning for our loss. Instead, she threw herself into opening a business for us and toiled steadily on to support us, working to occupy her thoughts and time. To this day, I am proud to say that this same business has sustained our family, and it was all thanks to the grace of God and my mom’s hard work and sagacity. At the same time, she also took great care of me and my 4 brothers, managing to instill in us the important values of respect and a healthy faith in God. I can honestly say my brothers and I would be amiss if it weren’t for her. She is our real-life Wonder Woman. Thank you, mommy Estrellia Macias. I am who I am now because of you. I love you so much.
