I am my mom’s only child and I grew up at my lola’s house since my mom works full time to be able to provide for me and to help her siblings. She is a strong, God-centered, career-oriented, single mom. Our life has been a series of adventures. We’ve transferred from one place to another. All clothes wrapped in bed sheets, things in boxes, and we’re good to go.
We were relocated to Taytay to be close to our church and churchmates with no family members nearby. But we were happy knowing that we can just walk going to church, no more long drives for mom every night after prayer meetings, discipleship, training, and visitation.
We transferred thrice to the same village because we needed to until God blessed us with our home. It was all through faith. It was a journey of faith as my mom will always tell me how she cried out to God to bless us with our own place when I told her na “Ma, nakakapagod na maglipat.”
When we moved into our own place, mom didn’t shell out any amount as she traded her car as a downpayment. It was indeed a blessing.
My life wasn’t directed by mere plans and dreams but patterned as how my mom will respond to God’s call – my mom, despite being in a highly competitive industry of sales wherein I am a witness to her stress, work load, and client calls, By God’s grace, she managed to perform well and to be present in all of my life’s important events.
Being a single mom and a thriving sales person is no joke. I admire my mom’s strength and courage to face life with hope and joy. To face the uncertainty of tomorrow with certainty that God is in control. I am blessed to witness how she responds in faith and how she depends on God every step of the way.
Now that I am also working in sales, I have a better understanding of her sacrifices and challenges. I know that I can never repay everything she did and is continuously doing for me and for the family but my hope and prayer is that I will be able to make her proud by being the BEST version of me by thriving in my chosen career and by God’s grace to live a life pleasing to God.
Thank you Coffee Bean for this opportunity to make a public affirmation of how thankful I am to God for giving me the BEST mom. I am eternally grateful!
