I am currently a 2nd year medical student at Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City. I graduated BS Chemistry from the same school. During my first year in med school, I really had a hard time coping up with the subjects and their medium of instruction since it was different from how they taught back in my college days.
Dr. Vince already knew me before I enrolled because of some common friends and because my thesis mentor in college was one of his closest friends. So, he would always check up on me and how I was doing with my subjects. He would approach me and talk to me if he could help with anything and told me to just ask if I had any problems. Basically, he made my med life easier, knowing that there was someone you can turn to for help not just academically but also personally.
He is a person that is easy to talk to. I am grateful that I had him as my mentor in my first year. Until now, he still guides me academically and with other problems I have. I consider him as one of my foundations in med school. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have the courage to pursue my dream of being a doctor.
